Description: Victorian Whistle On a Chain / Gilded. Silverplate antique reproduction - From an original made in 1893 in Birmingham, England by William Osbourne. Finely engraved with scrolls and flowers, this whistle was used to hail a cab (or help!) in Victorian London. It has a secret compartment under the hinged lid for sachet for the ladies or matches for the gentlemen. (2 3/4" long.)
