Description:
Elegant Victorian card case with Sterling silver exterior decorated with an elaborate leaf motif and marked with the Lion Passant (the English official mark that certifies Sterling silver), the Anchor (the city of Birmingham's hallmark), the silversmith's mark M&L in three separate boxes (Minshull & Latimer) and a small, serifed letter "x" which means it was made in 1897. It is finely lined in leather with different compartments for cards, stamps and other small papers. The front has a shield-shaped cartouche with engraved initials AP (it once belonged a member of the Peers family from Durban, South Africa). Clear hallmarks and working closing mechanism. In good used condition with small imperfections as shown.
