Description: This large and striking Victorian Stained Glass Window is of excellent quality and is all hand painted. It depicts the Greek Muse "Melpomene" one of the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne. She is holding a tragic mask and a sword. The surrounding painted glass is of a Architectural stone portico, with columns either side. The background curtain/draper is a deep rich red colour. It is inscribed by the painter "A.L.Moore, Glass Painter, 89 Southampton Road, London. W.C.1." A well documented painter of the Victorian era. Who worked with William Morris and his circle. A large impressive window.
