Description:
What an incredible 7 piece walnut Victorian matching parlor set in the Renaissance Revival style. Large, complete sets of this quality and condition are hard to come by. The set includes a sofa, pair of gentlemen's chairs and 4 side chairs. The sofa measures 78"w X 47"h X 32"d. The pair of armchairs measures 31"w X 39.5"h X 30"d. The side chairs measure 21"w X 38"h X 23"d. Each crest has boldly executed and pierced scrolling design with a large central burled walnut medallion with incising. The side of the back frame has narrow applied burled walnut panels with attached roundels and beautiful carvings resembling fabric swags. The sofa and armchairs have more applied burled walnut panels and incised carvings on the arm supports. The legs are boldly turned in the classic Renaissance Revival fashion. All have their casters. Each piece is beautifully and extensively tufted. The fabric is a tone on tone damask in a goldish green color. The fabric is in amazingly fine condition. There is a covered button missing on the arm of one of the gent's chairs. A knowledgeable upholsterer can remedy this. There is no obvious staining. There are some pulled threads on the back of the sofa - possible the result of a cat, but nothing of major significance. What a commanding set that will make a statement in any home.
