Description:
Exceptional antique Victorian 18 carat gold bracelet in the form of a snake coiling around a cabochon garnet and mourning locket of hair, in it's original,
fitted box. Made in England approx 1840 - 1880.
Weighs approx 23 g. Bracelet alone (excluding the locket) is 7 inches long.
Bracelet consists of two parts: 1. a wavy, coiled series of gold links, fitting together, but allowing complete movement. At either end is a blue-bell flower
shaped cap, finely engraved that swivels on a post attached to a sturdy loop. The loops from the two sides enclose the loop of the 2. locket part of the
bracelet. On one side of the locket is a glassed-in compartment containing a lock of hair. The other side has a cabochon garnet within the finely engraved,
rounded gold sides and all of this is encircled by a coiling snake. The detail and workmanship are superb and of the highest quality.
Original fitted leather box, rounded, triangular shape with silk lining in lid and blue velvet on the bottom. The silk top has gold embossed: Certificated
