Description:
This incredible marble top Victorian sideboard has some of the finest carvings and unique detailing. The top sports a highly carved frieze of grapes, pomegranates, leaves, flowers, fruits and other vegetables. Notice the carved griffins reclining on either side. The back has a total of 4 beveled mirrors of various sizes. Below the first shelf are two beveled glass display or crystal cabinets - a very unique and desirable feature! Underneath each cabinet is a small highly carved drawer. The carvings are of vines and leaves. The mouldings used on this sideboard are bold and dynamic. The marble is original and in excellent condition. The base has an interesting configuration of various sized doors and drawers. All the drawers are hand dovetailed and have burled walnut fronts. The ornately cast brass hardware is original. The top center drawer has dividers for silver storage. Behind each door is a single shelf. The top left drawer of the base is missing its lock. All the rest have functioning locks. Check out the carved cornucopias on the fronts of the end doors. The carvings are life size and almost 3 dimensional. This sideboard retains its original finish, which is in excellent condition. What a beautiful and imposing piece of Victorian furniture.
