Description: Wonderful Victorian mahogany blackamoor armchair. The chair has reclining cupids at the top of the arms and fully carved figures hold up each of the carved arms. The "C" shaped cross stretchers in the base are carved and have a fancy finial in the middle. The feet are stylized faces. We had this chair reupholstered in a damask fabric. Chairs of this style were made primarily in Italy and are almost always walnut. This one is solid mahogany and we believe it to be American in origin. A wonderful well made armchair!
