Description:
Here is a very hard to find walnut Victorian linen press. Its purpose is to store "linens", which was an early term for clothing. The cabinet comes in 2 main pieces plus the marble. The top piece has a wide cornice and chamfered corners. The arched framed mirror on the door is original. Inside are 3 shelves. The inside depth of the top cabinet is 14". There are 2 small hand dovetailed drawers with uniquely carved wooden pulls. The lock in the door has been removed. The marble is original and is a unique feature on the piece. The marble has been broken and was professionally repaired. The base has chamfered corners and two large hand dovetailed drawers with carved wooden pulls. The locks are missing in these drawers as well. The cabinet finish is in excellent condition and could easily provide a variety of functions such as a dresser, storing a stereo or TV, or a dining room storage piece.
