Description: Ceramic Victorian period sardine dish, in pretty hand painted dog rose pattern, with the sardine as a handle on the lid. The maker’s impressed mark is for Franz A. Mehlem, from Bonn, in the Rhineland, Germany. There is also a printed registration mark . Circa 1890. Dish measures 19 cm by 17 cm and about 11.5 cm high (7.1/2 inches by 6.1/2 inches and about 4.1/2 inches high). Very good condition, just one small nibble on the underneath rim.
