Description:
This rosewood Victorian fire screen is in remarkable condition. Originally, was designed to shield to shield your face from the heat of a fireplace. The screen moves up and down the central pole to better position when seated. Notice the intricately pierced carved décor on the top of the frame. The fancy work inside the frame is composed of colors are bright shades of blue, with golds and greens. The beadwork is in remarkably good condition, although there are some areas of loss, which are not obvious at first glance. The fabric part of the screen measures 18" X 18". The screen is attached to a carved and turned base. The three legs are curvaceous and pierced carved. The frame is tight with no breaks or repairs. The finish appears original and in excellent condition.
