Description:
This unique solid walnut cabinet displays elements from the Art Nouveau and Victorian periods. They were referred to as drop center dressers or vanities. The tall, narrow beveled mirror pivots and is designed to easily come off when transporting. The rounded top crest has a shell carving encircled with vines. Below is delicate dentil moulding and additional deeply carved vines. The mirror is original and in excellent condition. Check out the mirror and open shelving on either side of the central mirror. These were used to store perfumes or other beauty products. There are a set of 3 small hand dovetailed drawers in graduated sizes on either side of the dresser or vanity well and a long drawer below. All the drawer fronts have dynamic burled walnut raised panels. Each drawer has its original lock and fancy brass pulls. Two of the bails have been replaced. This cabinet retains its original finish, which is in excellent condition having a warm patina and color. The mirrors are original and in excellent condition.
