Victorian 14k solid yellow gold .15CT genuine diamond solitaire ring, size 7-3/4. Lovely buttercup style setting, heart shaped shoulders. Diamond is SI-1 clarity (no eye-visible inclusions), I-J bright color. (GIA clarity and color grading standards used). Measures 1/4" north/south. Marked "14k" with a six-pointed star hallmark inside the ring shank. About the buttercup setting: Typically used for pendants and earrings, this deep, six-prong setting is shaped vaguely like the buttercup flower. The prongs are distinctly flared at the base, which has a scalloped outline when viewed from the top. Buttercup settings can have closed-back or open-back form. Also called a scallop setting.
