This four piece vanity set, with an Oriental motif, was produced, during the early twentieth century in England. Hand painted on silk Oriental ladies, in kimonos, Cherry Blossom tress, Empress birds, Pagodas, Coy fish and more adorn the 14 x 8 inch tray [including handles], the 12 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch beveled mirror, the 9 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch hair brush and the 5 1/2 x 2 inch clothes brush. Both the brushes have natural bristles with wood backings. The hand painted detail on the silk and the reverse hand painting on the high quality clear overlay creates an astounding 3 Dimensional effect that must be seen to be appreciated, as my photographic skills cannot begin to show the intricate designs properly. The heavy brass casings display a similar attention to quality and detail. The tray has four brass feet and intricate brass handles. All four pieces of this outstanding and very high end ladies vanity set are in excellent condition.
