Description:
Late 19th century wine colored velvet jewelry box has a diamond raised design on the lid with brass decorative hardware and loop handle. Small brass latch with decorative backplate holds the lid shut. Drawer below with hoop pull. Lined in seafoam green satin on interior of lid and box. Indentations for three containers, one remains of antique cream with screw off lid. Possibly cosmetic containers which were included originally. Could hold a few earrings and necklaces now. The drawer also lined in satin has a cradle for two larger containers midway through the drawer. Room for several items in this location. The velvet has worn with age but still quite good on the sides and back. No tears, just thinner. Hinged with two brass hinges along the back. Interesting accent piece as well. Measures 3.5H X 5.75D X 5L.
