Description: Here's an unusual shaped mortar and pestle. The symbol on the outside says "Wintrop-Sterns." On the bottom it says "Pat. Pending A Cooper Mortar." It is heavy, shiny on the outside, no glaze on the inside. There are no cracks or hairlines that I can see. I would image this was a pharmaceutical mortar and pestle rather than one used in the kitchen. This came from an estate in upstate New York.
