Description:
A most interesting antique desk-top inkstand made from a solid walnut base with beautiful figuring and colour with four wooden pegs to keep the two cut crystal inkwells in place. The desk set has been created in the form of fence and will appeal to the lover of English country life and associated pursuits. The woven back of the "fence" stands between two posts topped with brass or bronze spherical mounts, these have a wonderful aged patina. The posts in turn have the two original supports used to house a dip pen, I have included the pen which is in perfect keeping although not of such age. Dating to around 1890, late Victorian in period, the piece is absolutely splendid condition and measures 5 3/4" x 3 3/4" x 4 3/4" tall at rear; each inkwell measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 2 1/4" tall.
