The Angel of time: Chronos
This extremely rare clock is in excellent working condition, keeping perfectly the time and striking every hour and half hour. The clock has a very rare Paris movement that does not use pendulum, but an escape wheel and pinion movement, which is extremely rare and as I have said, it is in perfect working condition.
The figure of the clock is Chronos, a mythological allegory representing the Time. The winged figure at the top is Chronos, represented as a winged old man with a scythe who reaps the minutes of our lives. The Angel is sited over a starry sphere representing the firmament. Below, human beings are depicted as a child. Thus the angel of time goes reaping the minutes, hours and days of our lives, until one day, the entire field is mowed. The Angel of Time reminds us that every minute in our live that is lost is a minute that we can not recover, so that if we don't enjoy every minute of life we will lose that minute forever.
The clock measures 44 cm in height x 20 cm wide x 13 cm deep. (17.3 inches in height x 7.8 cm wide x 5.1 cm deep).
