Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. This very rare, superbly illustrated volume rescues the typewriter from historic neglect. First published in 1923 by a trade journal, it ranges from the 1829 Burt Machine, the first to be issued a U.S. patent, to the decidedly more streamlined models of the early 20th century. Over 280 different varieties include the Yu Ess, Dactygam, Dollar, and Ford as well as better-known products of Hammond, Oliver, Remington, L. C. Smith, and Underwood. Also featured are company histories and period advertisements. 165 halftones. 95 black-and-white line illus.
