Description: This is a very old Premium Camera. It has a plate on the lower front of the camera beneath the lens that says "PREMIUM MONTGOMERY WARD & CO. CHICAGO". The camera measures about 9" by 6 1/2" by 3" when closed. The wood base opens out to be 9" deep. The wood film plates measure just under 8 1/2" by 6" by 1/2" thick, and the head cloth measures about 34" by 35 1/2". The cloth is uneven on the edges and does have a few tears that go in about 3". The camera is made of rosewood with a real leather bellows and the outside of the camera is encased in what is called American Cloth. The camera comes with the black cloth that would have gone over the photographer's head and camera body and three wooden plates, one of which is missing the glass from the inside. The lens from the camera is also missing. If I had the lens you would be looking at a $600.00 plus camera. The rosewood is in immaculate condition with only a 3/8 " nick to the edge of the bottom wood base about 1 1/2" in from the left as you are faceing the front of the camera. The leather bellows is like brand new. It is not cracked or torn and has no discoleration. The metal parts of this camera are also in wonderful condition. Alas it is missing the lens which I'm sure will be possible to replace. Or perhaps one could have one made. When I got this camera it had come straight from the barn where it had been stored in the rafters for a century or longer. I spent an hour or more carefully cleaning the pidgeon poo and straw pieces off of the outside of the camera before I even attempted to open it. I expected to find a rusty piece of junk but was I ever rewarded!!!!!as you can see. The american cloth on the outside of the camera is loose on some corners and appears to have shrunk at one spot on the back of the camera. There is also a small piece, a pie shaped piece 2" long and 1/8" wide at the widest that is missing. When it comes down to the nitty gritty this camera meats the criteria that all antiques have to meet to be at the top of thier class. Condition...Condition....CONDITION!!!!!!.
