Description:
This ENGLISH TRUNK/CHEST is a beautiful find. In England this piece would be referred to as a Coffer. These pieces were used to store the family valuables. It is raised upon High Quadrangular Legs. This would have kept it's contents dry and away from damp. The Trunk has Peg Construction and Square Nails which dates it to the late 1700's. At some time the bottom has been replaced and the underside of the Lid reinforced. It is quite sturdy. The Trunk is quite large and would make a beautiful Window Seat. Opening the Lid reveals a roomy interior with an incredible amount of storage space. If you have been searching for a functional storage piece with period elegance which will add greatly to the interior design of your home, this English Trunk / Coffer is a beautiful choice.
