Description: A nice old large MAUCHLINE WARE NEEDLE CASE dating to around 1880-1900. The case has split to rear but it is still a nice old piece of sewing memorabilia. MAUCHLIN WARE is a transfer printed varnished wood decoration and was made from the 1820's through to the 1930's by A & A SMITH of MAUCHLIN, AYRSHIRE....then later in Birmingham. The items were usually SOUVENIR ones in the form of needle cases, boxes, napkin rings etc and this one pictures ...THE BEACH HUNSTANTON.
