Description: This wonderful cookie jar in the shape of a coff pot is marked on the inside lid: Treasure Craft/Made in USA and also on the back side bottom edge of the jar: Treasure/?/USA.
Treasure Craft was founded in Gardena, California, in 1945 by Alfred A. Levin shortly after his discharge from the United States Navy. He began his business by selling items manufactured by local California potters. By the early 1950's Treasure Craft was manufacturing its own ceramics and had expanded to several small locations in southern California. In November 1988, Treasure Craft was acquired by the Pfaltzgraff Company of York, Pennsylvania.
Done in dark brown the jar has pansy flower decorations around the bottom and on the spout and lid knob with a lighter brown raised cartouche that says Cookies. This jar is in very good + condition with no chips or cracks but it does have 2 tiny flaws in the back of the jar that looks like the jar was leaning against something and also a few tiny flecks that the brown glaze must have missed as I have shown in my pictures and it measures 12 inches tall, 10 1/2 inches spout to handle and 8 1/4 inches across the base. A great addition to any Treasure Craft or Cookie Jar Collection.
