Offered here is a vintage antique large format 19th century Civil War music sheet; "Tramp! Tramp! Tramp! The Prisoner's Hope, G.Root, Civil War", by Geo. Root, Civil War, Published by Root & Cady, Chicago, 1864. An Heavily Lithographed original issue. From a previously bound volume - thus tiny chips along the spine, oxidation and some light foxing [lighter than it appears on the scan]. The inside front cover has a lithographed add for Root & Cady Organs and Pianos - the back cover has adds for other music from the publisher.
In the prison cell I sit, thinking Mother, dear, of you,
And our bright and happy home so far away,
And the tears, they fill my eyes 'spite of all that I can do,
Tho' I try to cheer my comrades and be gay.

In the battle front we stood, when their fiercest charge they made,
