Description: Large traditional West African Mudcloth. Made in Mali in the 1960's. Mudcloths (or more tradionally called Bogolanfini) are made of hand-woven cotton and hand-dyed using plant juices, teas and mud. They are given for special occasions and the colors represent different aspects of the world... weddings, funerals, hunting rituals. This particular mudcloth is covered in West African animals with a thick lined trim.
