Description:
When I saw this saddle it took my breath away! It is an amazing work of art .It is a Hereford Brand Tex Tan of Yoakum. The best of the best. Yoakum is the first saddler established in Yoakum Texas, the saddle capital of the world. I suspect that this is a show saddle .It is hand tooled on every inch in magnificent sophisticated western detail. The seat is suede with decorative stitching & the beauty part is that is well broken in, soft & supple & very clean. On the back edge of the seat is a silver plaque ready to be engraved & around the very base of the seat it is laced with heavy silver decorative stitching .The saddle is in great condition having all of the parts it should have ,the leather is still supple & clean & has a great surface patina. It is a good size measuring 24” from front to back & 21” across the total width / girth of the complete seat section including the lower portions. Underneath the seat still has the sheepskin that is starting to deteriorate a bit & should be replaced if you intend to use it for riding. For me ,,,my idea would be to use this as an art object on display in the great room or even in a contemporary setting ,anywhere you would like to have that wild west theme ,great for log home decorating too! This saddle is old; pre 1950’s is my best guess. Be sure to visit my entire website for related items in Native American Indian Engravings, pottery baskets & more.
