Description:
We have a rare bone dish in the Tonquin - Green pattern by Clarice Cliff. After World War I there was a big change in the way people lived. People didn't want to sit and eat the many course meals they were used to. This brought about a great change in design within the porcelain business. Place settings were limited in pieces, gone were the individual butter dishes, bone dishes and other special pieces that were used in the many course meal. This is one of those rare pieces that remind us of a slower paced lifestyle of days gone by. This piece is by the renowned Clarice Cliff and is handpainted. Clarice began her training at Stoke-on-Trent at age 13. She was an amazing artist. This piece came from an estate sale and has been well cared for. The piece is so beautiful it shines like new. See photos for details.
