Personally I have never seen a Tobias with such hand work on the plates and have no idea what this could be worth. Still I am pricing it as one would see in the price guide.
This is a Civil War era , circa 1850, massive 55.2 mm not counting the crown, 74.2 mm with the crown, and 16.3mm in depth. It is a hunting case, sterling, and I believe this to be a French or Danish made case ( it is not an English case )It is key wind/key set. Both covers have a floral and foliate design with a crest which is not personalized. T is very little wear and only a few minute dimples which absolutely do not detract at all. The Cuivre appears to be made of Brass and signed " Patent Lever , Full Jeweled, M.J. Tobias, Liverpool". T is a running deer icon as can be seen in the photos. Both case covers open to 90 degrees and close properly. The front cover opens at 9:00 and the back cover opens at 7:00. T is no lift spring. The case lock works perfectly. The bow and neck are tight and the function button works as it should. The case has beautiful toning ( not tarnished looking ). It's a really nice look, however, the buyer can choose to have me professionally polish it at no additional charge. I love it the way it is.
The movement is STUNNING , hand made plates like I have never seen before. The movement is a light fire , textured gilt. The arbors and regulator are stainless. T is a stainless bi metallic balance wheel, stainless club foot escapement. The train is gold.
This is a fine investment . The movement has just been cleaned.
The dial is bright white and I just cleaned it. T are a couple of hairlines which do not detract. T is a repair at 12:00. Overall a very nice watch with an extremely nice movement. -----------------------------------
