Description: This is a wonderful 1860s tin spice set found in Maine. The set has an original tin holding tray and on both sides on japanned tin it reads Grand Union Tea Co in black stenciled letters. The rack has a carrying handle and holds 6 different spice containers and shakers. The tins were also marked but only three still have stenciled lettering they read cloves, peppers, and most of allspice. Two of the containers have spinning shaker tops on them the rest have pull off lids. The set is complete and all original. It measures 8 x 5.5 x 4 inches. The set shows some use wear especially the finish, it is solid and complete and I think pretty amazing to find it complete.
