Description: Beautifully engraved uncancelled certificate from the Times Mirror Company issued in 1996. This historic document was printed by the American Banknote Company and has a vignette of an allegorical woman holding a flame and standing next to a globe. This item has the printed signatures of the Company's Chairman of the Board and Secretary.
Certificate Vignette In June 2000, the Times Mirror Company merged with the Tribune Company effectively doubled the size of Tribune and secured its position among the top tier of major media companies. The $8.3 billion transaction was the largest acquisition in newspaper industry history. TRIBUNE is one of the country’s premier media companies, operating businesses in publishing, broadcasting and on the Internet. It reaches more than 80 percent of U.S. households, and is the only media company with newspapers, television stations and Web sites in the nation’s top three markets. In publishing, Tribune operates 12 market-leading daily newspapers such as the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and Newsday plus a wide range of targeted publications including Spanish-language newspapers.
