Description: TIFFIN ‘end-of-day’ paperweight. Vivid reddish amber colored lead glass with a profusion of random sized controlled bubbles around a central large bubble, and I believe was called Sunrise Orange by Tiffin when it was in production. Picture shows a little darker amber than it really is. This is a pristine piece for an “end-of-day” and blown by a family friend to show sample color of the era. Measures 3 inches tall X 3 inches in diameter. Weighs in at 1lb. 9oz. The bottom pontil mark is polished out, and shows fine scratches. Anything else on the piece is so minute you need a loupe to see it.

HISTORY: Tours of the Tiffin glasshouse, in Tiffin Ohio were frequent for me growing up, and I had a relative or two and many friends who worked at the glasshouse over the course of its 100-year history, since it was a major employer when it was still a functioning glasshouse. Instead of the whimsies that most glassblowers brought home, my family was the recipient of paperweights from time to time, most one of a kind, and most to show the color of the era. This is an “end-of-day” Tiffin paperweight from my personal collection. There seems to be a concerted effort to dispute or negate some special made Tiffin items and end-of-day that are not listed in any pattern books. I was born in Tiffin and lived there for 35 years, and will provide a notarized personal letter of provenance with any Tiffin item purchased from my list.

All items are offered “AS IS”. The best “in good faith” descriptions and pictures are given, along with history, (if possible and if known) based on comparables and research available at the time of listing.

Parcel Post (or best rate) Packaging/HANDLING, insurance: quoted at time of purchase as to zone. Seller will combine shipping on multiple items if possible.

Please Note: Payment is due within 7 days. Non-payment is reported to GoAntiques. Seller accepts: Personal Checks, Credit Card Checks only (NO Credit Cards), Money Orders, Travelers Checks.
