Description:
This is a teacup trio consisting of cup and saucer with matching plate commemorating the birth of Princess Margaret Rose, younger sister of Queen Elizabeth II of England in 1930 by Paragon China, England. The teacup trio is pale yellow on the outside and white on the inside and was made with permission of the then Duchess of York, Elizabeth, wife the man who later became King George VI in 1937. Paragon got into trouble by renaming themselves Royal Paragon on the strength of making the souvenir design and earlier Two For Joy for Elizabeth's christening, and in 1931 were allowed the Royal Warrant but had to drop the Royal in their name. This is one of the earlier pieces with the Royal souvenir mark. The cup is 2.65 inches high, the saucer is 6 by 5 inches oval, the plate is 5.75 inches by 6.75 inches oval with a design with the Margaret Rose and 2 parakeets or budgies in hand coloring over transfer with hand applied enamel accents and gold trim which denoted the Deluxe edition. The cup and saucer with matching plate is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or gold wear, and only the tiniest signs of use.
