We are pleased to offer this adorable sterling silver vermeil heart shape ruby pendant.
This pendant weighs approximately 4.6 grams. It is 3/4” wide and 1” tall including the bail. This stunning pendant has three gorgeous, round cut; faceted rubies in a prong set style and it come with 18” spring ring closure vermeil chain. Each ruby measures about 3.25 mm. It is in excellent condition, good for dress up. The setting is part sterling silver and part gold vermeil. This pendant will also be a very good gift for someone who loves rubies or a friend or loved one whose birthday is in July. This pendant is hallmarked “925” which means it is sterling silver. Sterling silver is a white and highly reflective precious metal. Sterling refers to silver that is 92.5 percent pure, which should be stamped on the metal as Sterling, 925 or .925, sometimes accompanied by the initials of the designer or country of origin as a hallmark.
A ruby is a pink to red gemstone. It is a king of gemstones because of it’s an extremely rare gemstone. Ruby is classified in the mineral corundum that has a hardness of 9 on Mohs scale and it’s composed of aluminum oxide with chromium.
Vermeil (pronounced vur-MAY), also known as silver gilt, is a combination of sterling silver, gold, and other precious metals. It is commonly used as a component in jewelry. To be considered vermeil, the gold must also be at least 10-carat and be at least 1.5 micrometers thick. Sterling silver covered with another metal cannot be called vermeil.
