Description: A service for eight of sterling silver flatware by Lunt in the pattern Modern Victorian #2600. This 88 piece service consists of 8 each of the following: Modern Hollow Knife – 8 inches, Fork – 7 ¼ inches, Salad Fork – 6 3/8 inches, Cocktail/Seafood Fork – 7 5/8 inches, Flat Handle Butter Spreader – 5 7/8 inches, Round Bowl Soup Spoon – 6 ¼ inches, Place/Oval Soup Spoon – 6 5/8 inches, Demitasse Spoon – 4 ½ inches, Iced Tea Spoon – 7 3/8 inches, and 16 Teaspoons – 5 7/8 inches. All are stored in a drawered wooden felt lined storage box. The pieces show slight wear, especially at the ends of the handles where they rest on one another during storage. There are two variations of the table knife, four of each. The slight differences are primarily in the shape of the blade; in one the top and cutting edges of the blade blend smoothly into the handle while with the other the blade is slightly wider and the cutting edge is recurved where it attaches to the handle. On the first variation the words “Lunt, Sterling Handle, Stainless Blade” are engraved on the blade while in the second variation “Stainless” is engraved on the blade and “Lunt Sterling Handle” is stamped on the hilt. The box is a dark mahogany stain showing wear and various scratches. The recessed “hidden” hinges are loose or sprung. The drawer for serving pieces opens smoothly and closes fully. Even though this set of silver has been used, it is in remarkable condition for it's age. Polishes beautifully!
