Turquoise and coral
Weighs approximately 33.4 grams
Measures about 6 ½”
Southwestern design: sunface motif

We are pleased to offer this Sterling Silver, turquoise and coral sunface motif cuff bracelet.

We believe, from the “signature” design engraved on the back of this bracelet that it is the work of Sadie Laahte of the Zuni tribe.

These two colors are classical partners in Southwestern style jewelry. It weighs approximately 33.4 grams and measures about 5 ½” around the inside with a 1” hole for a total of 6 ½”. It tested Sterling Silver and is the popular sunface motif inlaid with turquoise and coral.

In Indian folklore it is said that there was once a chief with turquoise colored skin. One day he was running from his enemies in the hot desert. Whenever he stopped to rest, his perspiration ran onto the ground, collected in rocks and became turquoise.

Silver and turquoise jewelry is increasingly renowned around the world. Turquoise is New Mexico's gemstone and is recognized as the birthstone of December. It has been known by this name since the French purchased the "turkey stone" from Turkish traders, never realizing that the turquoise was mined in Persia and later traded to the Turks. Today, celebrities adorned with this valued stone are omnipresent in fashion magazines and on television. Interest in this beautiful and varied stone has reached a new high, similar to the craze of the sixties and early seventies.

Sterling silver is a white and highly reflective precious metal. Sterling refers to silver that is 92.5 percent pure, which should be stamped on the metal, sometimes accompanied by the initials of the designer or country of origin as a hallmark. Although less durable than stainless steel and other precious metals, sterling silver is often employed in watches that coordinate or look like sterling jewelry.

• Care of Turquoise and Coral Stones
• Pearls, coral, and porous stones such as opal, turquoise, or malachite should be kept away from dirty water and oils to avoid discoloration. Wipe them gently with a soft, damp cloth. Do not wear rings containing these stones while washing dishes or similar activities.
• Be cautious about the use of ultrasonic cleaners. Some stones are subject to internal stress -- tanzanite, opal, emerald, organic gems (such as pearl, coral, and amber), turquoise, lapis, and malachite, any stone containing major inclusions, and most collector gems should not be exposed to ultrasound.
