Description: Very unusual hollow handled sterling letter opener with a pointed mother of pearl shell blade. 6.25" long. The very tip of this antique shell blade is missing, would probably be an easy repair. Unlike the usual silver blade and abalone shell handle this is a reverse take. Marked sterling and in very good condition except as mentioned above. My photos do not pick up the lovely irridescence of the mother of pearl shell blade.
