Description: This is a pretty unique item. It is similar to a claret jug but with a sterling mounted tube, for ice, that fits inside. Could be used for white wine, lemonade or iced tea. I stated sterling but in fact it is constructed out of French 1st Standard Silver which is 0.950, Sterling is 0.925. It was made by G. Keller, a very famous and reputable Parisian firm of silversmiths, a victim of the economic decline in France following WW11. It is stamped all over with the maker's mark and the hallmark, the Minerva head, for the period 1838-78. No inscription or monogram. Very good condition. 10" high.
