Description: Here is a small sterling carriage clock made about 1916 with a fitted case. Normally they are made of brass and are about 4" to 6" high, and the name derives from the fact that they were designed to be used in carriages, i.e. they were transportable. They were the first mobile clocks. The movement is brass and is fitted in a sterling case. It was probably made in Switzerland and imported into London in 1916, according to the hallmarks. I have not been able to trace the maker, JTC, but I presume it to be a Swiss clockmaker, as they were the most prolific at the turn of the century. In very good condition. In good working order. No dents, damage or repairs. Presentation inscription on the back dated 1921. Comes in a fitted case. Dimensions: Height of clock: 2.5", 3" to top of swing handle, Height of case: 3.5".
Status: No Longer Available Reference#: SAA14
Condition: Excellent Year: 1916
Country: UK
Title: Sterling carriage clock, 1916
