Decorated arches can be seen along the sides of the street and down the street. The stereoview is printed on the left margin with the photographer's information, "Jno. B. May, Artistic Portrait and Landscape Photographer" and on the right margin, "Views of Watertown & Vicinity." On the back is printed a list of the views of Watertown, Wisconsin & vicinity that the photographer has issued.

Panoramic Views of City from City Hall. The stereoview measures 7" long by 3 15/16" high. The view is probably "Main St. Floral Arches and decorations during 12th Saengerfest, held June 26th to 29th, 1885." "Saengerfest" is a German cultural festival of singing and music. The precise condition of the stereoview should be easy to figure out from the pics. We estimate this photo to have been made in 1885 or shortly there after.
