Description:
This quarter sawn oak bookcase is comprised of 6 separate pieces and is referred to as a barrister bookcase. They were originally designed for lawyers to hold their reference/legal books. There were several leading manufacturers such as Macey, Lundstrum and Globe Wernicke and are often interchangeable. This bookcase has a Macey cap or top with 4 Globe Wernicke glass front sections and a Globe Wernicke base. All fit perfectly together as a unit. Notice the different sizes of the stacks. One stack measures 9.5" tall, two measure 11.5" tall and the 4th one measures 13.5" tall. Each section has a glass front which lifts up and slides back in to allow easy access. The bookcase finish is original and in excellent condition. All pieces are free of breaks or repairs. One glass has been replaced.
