Description: Original, fine detailed photograph on studio card, 4” x 6”, of two young U.S. soldiers (both corporals) in uniform wearing cartridge belts and large brass “N.Y. State” belt buckles; their riffles and haversacks stacked between them; standing in front of their tent. Both with typical wide brim campaign hats. Authentic, original circa 1898 with ink inscription n the reverse “Corporals Norman and Stern/ [Camp] Chickamauga” (well known training camp of the era). Approximately 5,000 Jewish soldiers served during that war with more than 400 killed in action. Excellent. Normal sepia toning.
