Description: This rare one-sixth plate daguerreotype recently came out of a home here in central Florida. It shows an old world masterpiece in the frame with a photographers tag hanging from it for identification purposes. I have seen another example by Southworth & Hawes with the same exact type of tag hanging from a different painting. It would be my assumption that S & H photographed the collection of a Boston Art Museum or private collection for prosperity. The back of the plate which is silver,is another S & H trademark. This daguerreotype still has it's original seals intact and is about as fresh to the market as it get's.
