Description: This is a Pre-Columbian textile from the Nazca culture, dating to about 600 AD. In a superb state of preservation, this may be a headband or other type of ceremonial textile. The Nazca culture flourished from the 1st to 8th centuries AD along the dry southern coast of Peru in the river valleys of Rio de Grande Nazca Drainage and the Ica Valley. It measures 18” in circumference x 1.5” wide, with the wrapped fringe measuring 4-6” in length.
