In Southern China there was another kiln, the YueYao kiln that also produced fine quality white glaze porcelain, but with one difference. The YueYao white wares of the JingDeZhen made white glazes that had a hint of blue. This kind of glaze, white with a "feel" of blue was called YingQing. YingQing ware are very thin, yet very strong often seen with beautiful carved designs. The northern DingYao ware and souther YingQing ware were the 2 best white porcelain in the world!
This YingQing Lotus form vase has a creamy white glaze with a faint sky blue. This vase has a bulbuous body that rises to a stout neck that unfurls into a Lotus flower mouth rim. The foot rim is short and splayed. The foot rim and inner foot is unglazed.
