Description:
A beautiful LuShan yao black glaze vase of the Song dynasty, ca.AD960-1279. Dimensions:8-1/2" tall, 4-1/2" widest. The vase has a broad chest and narrow, waisted neck that flares outward. There are 4 looped handles on the shoulder that attach just under the mouth rim. The unctuous satin black glaze stops well above the foot exposing the tannish-gray, ribbed earthenware. The black body has a satin finish were as the black mouth rim has a glossy finish. These glossy splashes of white with brown inclusions on the shoulder (between each loop). These thick glaze splashes were applied on top of the first black glaze and fired. The surface of the piece exhibits fine and even wear. The condition consensus is extremely fine to excellent condition, museum quality without any damage and or repair.b1/41
