Description: 320 British Pounds. A beautiful crackle glazed Song Dynasty vase or jar, the lid topped by a bird and round the neck of the jar a dragon. In China the dragon was Lord of the Skies, symbolising authority, strength and goodness. A thousand years ago this jar, probably containing rice, was placed in a tomb to provide sustenance for the deceased on his journey into the Afterlife.
