A rare Song Dynasty Bronze Dragon Boat, ca. AD960-1279. Cast in the "lost wax" process in the form of a dragon boat, unlike the bulk of ancient Chinese bronzes seen, which are often seen in the form of hu's, ding's, and mirrors. The head of the ship is a magnificent dragon head with wide gapping mouth. The back of the boat is the end of the dragon tail. The body of the boat is covered in carved/cast scales. The bronze color is black to deep black brown with verdigris. Please note that the areas of lighter color seen in the photos are either from light contact marks obtained during excavation and handling or are from my camera flash.

Condition Consensus: Excellent Condition, museum quality, with no injury or repair.
