Description: This 2 piece Victorian walnut cylinder roll secretary is an extremely hard to find narrow size. The top crest has an incised carving with turned spindles. Notice the applied burled walnut panels surrounding the single glass door. The door retains its original carved wooden key escutcheon and working lock and key. Inside are 3 adjustable shelves. The base has a burled walnut, recessed paneled cylinder roll with its original ebonized knobs and key. The surface rolls back to reveal a pull out writing surface having its original felt covering. Inside are 3 cubbies and two small drawers with their original porcelain knobs. Below is a drawer with 2 carved burled walnut handles and its original carved wooden key escutcheon and working lock. Check out the unusual configuration of the base! Notice the large burled walnut recessed panel on the front flanked by ornate carvings, roundels and large drop finials. The 3 drawers are located on one side with the same carved pulls, key escutcheons and working locks. There is extensive use of burled walnut above the side drawers as well. The other side has a single recessed paneled burled walnut door with a single shelf inside. The key escutcheon is a replacement and has its original working lock. This secretary has its original finish, which is in excellent condition.
