Description: This tiny Majolica style hanging Match Holder/ Wall Pocket is so bright and cheery with it shiny green twig nest and two yellow birds with black highlights . The top bird has it head extended over the top of the nest in a three dimensional style. The second bird looks like it might be flying away. The condition is very good with no damage to report and only the variances typical in manufacturing. The green glaze went over onto the edges of the second yellow bird on one wing and a spot on the head. Typical of these older hand painted pieces. The inside and back are unglazed with a stamped black Made In Japan and an incised mark. Their is a hole for hanging but the bottom is flat and can sit on a shelf or table. I love these small wallpocket that are generally thought to be match holders to hang beside the stove or favorite smoking chair. Collectors will be very pleased with this great example.
