Description:
Here is a beautiful example of a handmade, primitive slicer and it has character galore. Everything about this specimen exemplifies care and craftsmanship, including the interesting grain pattern in the oak board used for its construction. Note how each of the cutting teeth on the back of the slicer are individually inset into the wood. Note the workmanship on the wooden wedge that holds the slicing blade in place. The cut outs for the handle and round hanging hole still show the swirls created by an old auger type bit and there is still evidence of the crossed kerf marks left by a hand saw. Other details include gently beveled sides and the initials LzB on the face of the slicer. This is a museum quality specimen that will hold its own in any antique kitchen utensil collection and it would make an excellent accent piece in any room.
