Description: Set of 4 signed Sevres plates with handpainted fruit surrounded by cobalt blue borders enhanced by fine gilt decoration. Made in France, 1848.
Diameter is 9 inches.
Each plate has a beautifully handpainted still life of a fruit: pears, cherries, peach and grapes. Very fine brushstrokes and use of colour. The painting is surrounded by a fine border of gold and, within concentric gilded rings, blue sloping sides highlighted with a delicate gold pattern. Great quality gilding.
Each plate has the green oval mark used after 1845, with the factory letter S and date numerals for 1848.
There are various incised marks under each plate as well.
Condition is very good. No chips/cracks/scratches.
